Being a highly logical and organized society, religious and superstitious beliefs are views with contempt and derision. Displaying any religious or superstitous beliefs or habits would be committing professional, social, and political suicide - and based on what further treasonous or unpatriotic activities it reveals, could even lead to imprisonnment or death.
Secular hellenistic humanism is, instead, the order of the day, and the society of Andervaan is founded on its principals. The importance of reason, science, and the benefits of human endeavor are touted as paramount. Morality comes from within, from the teachings of the government and educational system, and from the laws of society. Religious dogma, supernaturalism, pseudoscience and superstition are actively rejected and treated with derision and suspicion.
